Incident Report Description

As we approach the general election this year, there has been a confusion and divided minds among the cabinet and key leaders on when the general election should be held. Some are for the August as stated in the constitution while others oppose, stating that some amendments are not yet in place ,therefore it will be next to impossible to carry out the election in August this year.

The diplomatic community have however urged the IEBC to ensure that the election is free and fair, that will promote internationally accepted democratic regulations, and also keeping leaders accountable for their actions.

The IEBC is to roll out voter education to ensure Kenyans understand the voting process.and that the electoral process should meet the international standard in order to curb a repeat of post election violence.

There is a need to launch voter registration and and voter education with speed before the election.

The IEBC is expected to conduct boundary reviews for the 80 constituencies that would be created ahead of the next General Election in the next four months.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was launching its preliminary report on delimitation of boundaries for constituencies and wards to day at Kenyatta international conference center.
